In the light of the successful experience of implementing the quality assurance system in global institutions, King Abdul Aziz University has initiated the adoption of the quality system theoretically and practically. Therefore, it is considered as a main centerpiece of the University's strategic plan. The University has also taken many developmental steps, through the implementation of Total Quality Management -TQM), to bring about a qualitative development to KAU duty cycle, thus, to suit academic, educational, and administrative developments, and keep pace with ongoing progression to achieve excellence in all fields and processes of KAU. Accordingly, on (08/10/1421) the university was one of the first Saudi universities that have developed the Total Quality Program. This program has introduced the application of quality in all university sectors through the provision of consulting executive and educational programs. It also enhanced the university’s competitiveness both locally and internationally.

On (03/20/1435) the name of the program was amended from TQM to become “Quality Management”.
